The Dirt: White Pine - West

Discover

The OHV trails around Western White Pine County allows riders to enjoy access to a variety of recreation areas and remote landscapes. The city of Ely itself is an OHV-friendly community, and there are a limited number of roads within the city which can be used by off-highway vehicles. Popular recreation areas in this part of the county include the Shellback Ridge, the Illipah Reservoir, and Egan Crest. Information about each of these OHV opportunities can be found on here on our website. High-clearance, 4WD vehicles are recommended for many of these routes. While the area around Ely has cellphone service for most providers, the more remote parts of the county may be miles from service. Similarly, while Ely and its surrounding towns have many services for visitors, the vast expanses of rural basin and range can take visitors far from gas stations and grocery stores. Always travel prepared.
