The Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (SCORP) is a ten-year plan that establishes priorities to address unmet needs for public outdoor recreation land throughout Nevada. The process was established in the 1960s as a tool to guide the development and management of outdoor recreation resources in each state. States must update their SCORP every ten years. The plan allows states, tribes, and local governments to apply for and receive LWCF matching grant funding for the acquisition and development of public parks, trails, and other outdoor recreation sites.
The goal for this project is to develop a comprehensive SCORP that actively engages diverse stakeholders, gathers insightful feedback, reflects the needs and desires of the communities, and lays a roadmap for outdoor recreation in Nevada for the next decade. The aim is to increase representation from all demographics, promote health opportunities for everyone, and secure LWCF funding from the National Park Service.
